HOW TO VOTE FOR

  • Absentee-by-mail voting begins on January 12th. You can choose to vote by mail for any reason. You can request an absentee ballot until 5pm on February 17th on the North Carolina Absentee Ballot Portal here.

    Absentee ballots must arrive at the Wake County Board of Elections by 7:30pm on Election Day, regardless of when it is mailed or postmarked. You can return your absentee ballot in person to an Early Voting site during the Early Voting period or to your polling location on Election Day.

    In-Person Early Voting is from February 12 - February 28. You can vote at any Early Voting site in Wake County listed here.

    Election Day is March 3rd and you must vote at your assigned polling location if you choose to vote on Election Day.

  • You can find your Election Day polling location by entering your information on the North Carolina State Board of Election’s website here. This is where you must vote if you choose to vote on Election Day, March 3rd.

    You can vote early at multiple locations across Wake County during Early Voting from February 12 - 28. Find Early Voting locations here.

  • Yes! Unaffiliated voters will be asked which ballot they would like to vote when they arrive to vote. You can also update your registration to Democratic during Early Voting.

    If you request an absentee ballot, you will choose which ballot you would like to vote on the request form.

  • Yes. Per the Wake County Board of Elections:

    “Voters will now be asked to present a valid photo identification when voting in person. If you do not have a valid photo ID card, you may obtain one from your county board of elections prior to the election, through the end of the early voting period.

    If you do not have a valid photo ID card on Election Day, you may still vote and have your vote counted by signing an affidavit of reasonable impediment (or "Photo ID Exception Form") as to why you have not presented a valid photo ID.

    The address on your Photo ID does not have to match your voter registration address.

  • Yes! Voters who will be 18 years old on or before Election Day, November 3rd, 2026 can register and vote in the primary.
